A May 2017 Microsft security update for Windows 10 conflicted with a major routine in FileBoss resulting in FileBoss not starting on some Windows 10 systems.
The current download, V3.101, fixes the problem.
You can read more about this at the page
Windows Creators Conflict.
Optional, classic Dual Tab mode. Just click the Dual button and FileBoss will take care of the rest. When Dual Tab mode is on you can quickly copy from one tab to the other using the Tabs private toolbar.
And you can compare the two tabs and even link them together so when you move to a new folder the other tab moves too.
Complete compatibility with Unicode allowing the program to work seamlessly with any living language including Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and all other languages supported by Windows.
The
old drive bar (with the square yellow buttons) showed every installed drive including CD/DVD drives and flash card readers even if they were empty. In the example to the right drive E:\ and F:\ are empty CD/DVD drives, G:\ is an empty Blu-Ray drive and drives L:\, M:\ and N:\ are empty flash card readers.
The
new drive bar in version 3.x (with the round green buttons) only displays drive that are in use i.e., that have media. In the image to the right the empty drives (E:\, F:\, G:\, L:\, M:\ and N:\) no longer have buttons representing them. But as soon as a CD or flash media is inserted FileBoss will detect it and display the appropriate button automatically.
The new drive bar also displays the which drive the active tab (the tab that has the focus) represents as shown to the right where the folder in the tab is on drive I:\.
There are two new buttons on the version 3.x drive bar.
The first is the Network button designated by the two backslashes (\\). Like the drive buttons the Network button keeps track of folders you have visited but instead of a local drive it remember network shares. This button can really speed up access to shared folders on your network as compared to navigating through the Network folders on the left.
The second is the Folders button at the far right. Clicking this button quickly toggles the display of folders in the window on the right side of the tab. As it can be toggled on and off a will depending on what you need to do at any given moment or according to the composition of the folder you are viewing.
Another improvement is that when the cursor hovers over a drive a tool-tip is displayed that shows the amount of free space available on that drive, as show to the right.
If FileBoss is slow starting up because it is trying to access slow network resources or performing lengthy searches that were present when it was last closed you can now tell FileBoss not to reload those kinds of tab by preventing network folders and/or virtual folders from being loaded when FileBoss starts up. These new options, shown below override any other options on the Startup options panel.
To access these options use the Edit > Options > Program Options... command from the main menu.
Fuller help when hovering the mouse over a toolbar button. A great way to find out what some of the possibilities are within FileBoss.
Tab Groups now remember whether they were horizontal or vertical when FileBoss was last closed. And FileBoss remembers the last setting so if only one Tab Group is present and a new one is created it will have the same orientation as the last time there were more than one Tab Group present. (Previously multiple tab groups always defaulted to the vertical layout.)
The Tab Group menu item has been optimized. And it is now located under the new New top level menu item instead of the Windows menu item where it was in V2x.
As shown immediately above, select Window > Tab Groups > [desired option] to either move the current tab to a new tab group or move it to an existing tab group.
Right-click over a tab and select the type of tab group you want to create, or if there are already multiple tab groups the option to move it to the next or previous tab group.
You can quickly move a tab to a new tab group or move it to an existing tab group by clicking over the tab and, while holding the left mouse button down dragging it down to anywhere in either the Navigation or Contents window pane.
Release the mouse button and a small popup menu will appear from which you can select what to do with the tab.
You can also turn the display of Admin Shares on and off from the Explorer Views panel of the program options dialog. Use the Edit > Options > Program Options... command from the main menu and then select the Explorer Views panel from the list on the right to get to this option.
Searching for Folders - No Trailing Dot Needed
Fixed bug where some of the settings in the copy dialogs were not saved correctly between FileBoss sessions. Most notably were settings for drag and drop operations.
Improved various small appearance settings
Improved matching when searching for long text strings.
