Update May 2017

A May 2017 Microsft security update for Windows 10 conflicted with a major routine in FileBoss resulting in FileBoss not starting on some Windows 10 systems.

How to create a Virtual Folder

What is a Virtual Folder?

A Virtual folder is simply a collection of files and folders from that exist in more than one real folder. It can contain one file or millions and most file and folder operations can be applied to its contents, e.g. copy, rename, delete, etc.

Virtual Folders are an ideal way to work with many files from different places on you computer and/or network at one time.

Virtual Folders from Search Results

Most Virtual Folders are the results of a search, even if the search is Find all files on drive C and D. For all the information about searching and creating Virtual Folders see:
     Searching for Files

Dynamic Virtual Folders

Virtual Folders can also be created from selected entries, from a folder picker, from a text file or even by just creating an empty Virtual Folder and then dragging and dropping other files and folders on it.

Dynamic Virtual Folders have the advantage that you can manually sort the entries by dragging the entries you want to move up and down.

For specific information on creating Virtual Folders by these methods see:

     From current selected entries
     Using a folder picker
Empty (to drag and drop files and folders on it later)
     From a text file
